Agave filafera nana SALM-DYCK 1834
Agave filifera is the namesake species of the section Filiferae GENTRY. This section constantly presents new challenges for agave collectors. These include the frequent nomenclatural changes and the reliable classification of collected plants as belonging to one species or the other.
Microceps, multifilifera and schidigera in particular are sometimes classified as a subspecies/variety of filifera, and sometimes as an independent species.
