Agave nigra
Agave nigra does not actually belong in the list of species.
It was never properly described, and despite intensive searching, I could not find out who gave it this name in the past. However, it is now clear that it is a natural hybrid with the parents A. nickelsiae (syn. ferdinandi-regis) and A. asperrima (syn. scabra), which is why it is now usually written as "x nigra".
In recent years, populations of such hybrids have been found, among other places, at Ramos Arispe, Coahuila, from which 'Sharkskin' and 'Sharkskin Shoes' were presumably derived. It may be identical to the newly introduced 'Mako Shark' from PDN.
