Agave utahensis var. nevadensis

ENGELMANN EX GREENMAN & ROUSH 1929

Agave utahensis forms dense clusters of small rosettes with numerous gray-green, spiny leaves. This northernmost agave species is found in the mountains of California, Arizona, Nevada, and as far north as Utah (USA). It is among the most cold-hardy agaves and can withstand even severe frost, but requires a sunny location with good drainage. The variety eborispina is distinguished by its particularly long, dark leaf tips. Otherwise, it is just as hardy and undemanding as var. utahensis.

Nevadensis is reported from California (Inyo Co. and San Bernardino Co.) and Nevada (Clark Co. and Lincoln Co.).
