Der Formenkreis der Agave titanota ist extrem variabel. Pflanzen, die der Originalbeschreibung Gentry´s vom Typstand- ort entsprechen, sind eher selten bei uns in den Sammlungen zu finden. Gentry gibt als Typstandort an: "Rancho Tambor, ca. 17 miles West of San Antonio, Dist. Teotitlán, Oaxaca." Die Blattfarbe bezeichnet er mit "alabaster white".
